Following my friends who keep me informed on the things I miss in the rush of RL, I, too, have established a camp over at Dreamwidth to go with AO3, where I've been for a while.

I copied this post from rivkat because I couldn't have said it any better:

Two US agencies are holding hearings on copyright reform; enough powerful people (ok, companies) think that copyright law needs changing that this might actually happen. Don't let it happen without fannish voices: the OTW is soliciting stories of how creating transformative works has helped people in day-to-day life, whether that's through building language skills, video editing, writing, coding, or anything else. You don't need to provide personal information, but the more specific the better. You can submit your story through this form. We need to speak up, or we'll be left out.

KDCL Media Visits Blue Star Holistic Expo 10/30 by KDCL Media | Blog Talk Radio 10am edt

Blue Star Holistic Expo will be held at the Holiday Inn, Cumberland, MD November 3, 2012.

Featured speaker is Robert Harding, author of  Blue Star, The True Story of One Man's Awakening and Vision Quest.

Robert Harding, an ordinary salesman leading an ordinary life, just doesn't fit in. Not bonding with his peers, and with a constant, yet sublime feeling that something more than his routine life awaits him, he plods along like so many others.

He had a vision of blessed Mary, looking like The Lady in Clearwater, FL, that mysteriously appeared on the side of a building. This vision signals the beginning of a complete life makeover for the author. Inexplicably drawn to a quest to the U.S., He traveled from London to the home of the Hopi Indians. Along the way, he encountered fascinating people - veritable guideposts - and spiritual signs that help him in his vision quest.

Cecile Gilchrest is the founder of Red Hawk Ayurveda, in Cumberland, MD. She is a graduate of The School of Ayurveda located at the Kripalu Center for Health and Yoga, and recently studied with Dr. Vasant Lad, M.D. and other distinguished members of the Ayurvedic community in the United States and India.

For the past 25 years she has pursued studies in diet and lifestyle as “medicine” at The New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine, the Siddha Yoga Ashram; and the Sivananda Ashram & Vedanta Center. In 1991 she graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Liberal Arts and subsequently pursued a Master’s degree in Religion and Psychology at Andover Newton Theological School.

Red Hawk Ayurveda is dedicated to collaborating with individual clients to envision and achieve their own good health with the wisdom of Ayurveda. She is a member of NAMA-National Ayurvedic Medical Association.

Samhain Celebration with Lanaia Lee & Viktor Aurelius 10/23 by KDCL Media | Blog Talk Radio Tuesday 8pm edt

KDCL Samhain BTR

Lanaia Lee was born to a Navy father and a school teacher mother. With the death of her mother from a massive stroke a stroke when Lanaia was 9, and due to his military career, her father lost custody of Lanaia to her grandmother, a professed black witch, who abandoned her at 14.

Suffering from erratic hypertension, Lanaia suffered a stroke when at the age of 30. For the next 2 years, she underwent intensive physical therapy, but would never walk again. She found work at a vocational trade school to help with her rehab and there met her husband, David, who was also in a wheelchair from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

In 2001, David dared her to write a poem. Out of curiosity, she posted it on an online poetry forum. The feedback was so positive, she kept writing. She has published several novels and anthologies of short stories and poetry. All of her work is typed with one hand because of her disabilities.

Lanaia gives credit to God's grace, which she believes has helped her overcome immense adversity, and she claims she won't quit until she hits the bestseller list.

Viktor Aurelius, the 2000 Year Old Vampire who hosts Whispers in the Dark  recites poetry, writes, directs and produces his own Audio Dramas. After Dark with Author Timothy Wyllie 10/19 by KDCL Media | Blog Talk Radio Friday 8pm edt

Timothy Wyllie was born in Great Britain in 1940 and raised in London.  Having wended his way through an English public school education and then seven years further study at college, he qualified as an architect.

In the late 70s, Timothy began a systematic exploration of out-of-body states. This led to experiments in telepathic communication with dolphins and an open invitation to contact with nonphysical beings that continues to this day. During this time, he was also running his own business in New York City, marketing a system he had co-devised for storing and filing color photographs. He retired from the business community in 1981 and turned full time to his creative endeavors.

As a musician, Timothy has made several tapes of what he calls "Bozon Music"--a True Age improvisational jazz, shamanic music of the heart--as well as a series of guided visualization and meditation tapes.  Also an artist, he is currently working on a virtually endless progression of drawings of sacred landscape. It is what brings him most joy.

Timothy travels frequently to give lectures and seminars or to investigate sites and locations for his drawings.  He is the author of Ask Your Angels: A Practical Guide to working with the Messengers of Heaven to Empower and Enrich Your Life, Dolphins, ETs & Angels, and a co-author of Adventures Among Spiritual Intelligences: Angels, Aliens, Dolphins & Shamans. He lives in New Mexico.

Candelo's Corner with Yayis Ahmadi Riverwolf & Jhadas Adams 10/08 by KDCL Media | Blog Talk Radio
Candelo 4x3

I'm Ahmadi Riverwolf. My name in Palo is Yayi Nganga Tormenta Kaluguera. I'm the daughter of a West Philly English teacher and spent the most of my childhood roaming through metaphysical book shops and learning at the side of the strange, the outcast, the weird and the unheard. At ten I discovered that when I threw objects on the ground, I could see distinct patterns that "told me stuff". At eleven I was told the dead walked with me, at twelve I was given my first set of tarot cards.

I was initiated to Palo Kimbisa in 2007. Since that time, I have been privy to the wonder and beauty of this fascinating and timeless religion.

I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable, I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.

My name is Jhadas Adams. I've always had two 'heads'. When I was five, I told my mother about a conversation I had with her father - he died before I was born. I've always seen shapes at the edge of my mind's eye, and heard voices in places where I was the only one around. My mother's crossed the river to the other side, but I still feel her and talk to her in my dreams. When I do the great good work that I'm here to do, I can feel her hands on my shoulders.

I received Rayado in 2003 and was given the name Madre Lango Lindera. I was crowned Omo Yemaya in Cuba in 2004 and have been walking with Lwa since 1994, but have no initiations in Vodou. I read the Diloggun and the cards and speak for the dead when they have no voice. I am a psychopomp troubadour, and I speak for the trees in the upper reaches of the Pacific Northwest.

I am a kinked, socially marginal, mildly felonious anarcho-shamanic Santeria Priestess. I'm also an author of both erotic horror and erotica. My first full length novel, It Never Ends - Book One of the Vengeance Cycle, was released in 2009. I'm currently at work onthe sequel out.

After Dark with Rhonda Holy Bear 10/05 by KDCL Media | Blog Talk Radio 8pm edt
Rhonda Holy Bear

Rhonda Holy Bear is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. She was born in South Dakota, at Old Cheyenne River Agency, known as "Chief Martin Charger's Camp." Rhonda was raised by her grandparents, DeSmet and Angeline (Soft) Holy Bear. Rhonda's earliest dolls were a hammer and a clothespin and scraps of cloth she found around the house.

At 14, she moved to Chicago to live with an aunt. Rhonda wanted to sing. She wanted to be on television and on the radio. She enrolled in a school that had strong arts and cultural history programs. She found herself drawn to the traditional, hands-on skills of beading and sculpting.

When Rhonda was 18, she picked up a book and discovered a picture of an antique Indian doll from the late 1800's. She remembered the story her Grandmother had told her, and was inspired to create a doll at that very moment.

She held onto them until 1982, when she saw an ad in The Chicago Sun Times for a new art gallery called American West.

The gallery owner asked Rhonda to bring her dolls to the gallery to show his wife, who was a doll collector. The two dolls sold immediately. The gallery owners requested that Rhonda bring in more dolls for display.  An ad in American Indian Art Magazine, helped introduce Rhonda's dolls to the world.

Over the next 20 years, Rhonda’s work has been exhibited and collected by many galleries.

With every doll Rhonda asks herself deeper and deeper questions about her subject. The dolls have evolved far beyond being children's playthings. They represent her family and the roots of her tribal history. They have helped her to complete a circle in her journey as a Lakota.

Rhonda recalls a vivid dream she had when her Grandmother passed away. In the dream, a voice told her that, with her Grandmother's passing, Rhonda's back had been shattered. "Those are your relatives," the voice said, referring to the shattered pieces of her back. "You'll have to find a way to put them back together again."

Rhonda says, “My dolls represent my relatives, past, present, and future. Without them, I could not be who I am today. My ancestors and their stories are connected like each vertebrae of my spine. I carry their story with me in my back. It's a strong place to be.  ''Mitakuye Oyasin"
