RPS, Christian Kane/Steve Carlson, music

Once upon a time there were two men. Both were fair of face and form.

One was dark of hair and light of eye. His gift fueled by the magick in his voice and colors of his words.

The other, was fair of hair and also light of eye. His gift fueled by the magick in his music and the colors of his words.

Their friend’s celebration to good fortune and camaraderie found the men meeting for the first time.

Far into the evening, cases were opened, instruments lovingly tuned and melodies filled the air. The voices died to just their two as the magicks danced an aurora of color across the midnight blue sky.

Drawn together, the dark and fair began to pass time in the other’s company. Soon the gift of their combined magicks wove their words and notes into the colors that became the tapestry of their lives.

Like the legend of the Phoenix, the men’s magicks drew the people with their hot and colorful energy. All wanted to bask in the rainbow the love and light of the combined souls created.

As the Dark abhors the Light, soon Dark began to whisper to the mates. Poison soon darkened the vibrant energy. Breathy melodies growled in the blaze of passion soon became stabbing daggers of anger. Small rifts became crevices. Little scratches erupted into raw bleeding wounds. The bond between the two souls shriveled then snapped, infected by the Darkness.

After the final crescendo, scarred of heart and soul, the dark man fled their home. A pall of colorless silence settled over the land.

Patches of color would soon appear here and there. They were not as vibrant, nor their energy as warm, but the fair man tried to carry on the magick with his words and his song.

That stopped the day the fair man received word of an accident…a life hanging by a string. The healers held little hope that Death would not claim the dark man, allowing the Darkness to win.

The fair man raced to his dark half. He reach out to touch the battered face, as familiar as his own, he whispered words of love, apology and forgiveness, entreating the other to hear.

Tears spilled unheeded as a pair of much loved eyes blinked slowly, and color filled the room. Joy, surprise, love and passion shone from two sets of blue eyes. As the long fingers traced the tears on the fair cheek, the machines and the Light shrieked their alarms.

The two souls screamed their denial at the smiling Dark. The great Light sputtered, then flared as the magick of the voice and the magick of the music combined. Like the legendary Phoenix, the newly healed souls returned to the world on the color of their song.
