Yes, I have participated in what we refer to as Misas with prayers and songs to invite the spirits to come and deliver their messages through the espiritistas present. See Allan Kardac or espiritism.

We don't summon spirits, but invite them to share with us. We don't ask what we want to know. They tell us what we need to know to help solve a problem or to put us back on the path that we need to be travelling.
