Summary: Just one of those moments in a day.
Steve was sitting at the table with his morning coffee and the newspaper when Christian heard him chuckle.
“Care to share with the rest of the class?” Chris asked, working on breakfast.
“Just reading the horoscopes.”
“You believe those canned columns?” Chris sneered.
Steve shrugged and turned the page. “Sometimes they’re right on.”
Christian snorts his derision. “Yeah—well—according to astrology we’re not compatible.”
Choking on his coffee at Christian’s observation, Steve tried to catch his breath. He knew Chris was a voracious reader, but astrology, seriously.
Ignoring the coughing singer, Chris continued his recitation.
“I mean, Cancer,” he points to himself, “and Leo,” he points to Steve, “fire and water, man.”
Finally able to soothe his throat with another sip of coffee, Steve watched as Christian laid down the knife. His temperature rose and heat curled low in his belly at the fire in the pale eyes as Christian stalked across the room. Muscled arms pin Steve to the chair and Chris brought his face within inches of Steve’s.
“Know what fire and water make, Stevie?” He growled low.
Like a rabbit in a wolf’s gaze, all Steve can do is mutely shake his head.
As he watches Christian mouth descend to his, he hears a low hiss.
“Steam.”
