30 Days of Introspection - Day 1
Sep. 12th, 2010 08:46 amDay 01 – Introduce yourself
Like this is easy...Huh.
My name is Paula. I'm 53, and live in Oakland, Maryland near Deep Creek Lake.
I’m 5’7”, 195lbs, married for 24 ½ years, but believe we love who we love so whoever blows your hair back is fine. Life’s too short to worry about trivial crap. Receiving an indirect lightning strike in 2001, gives you prospective on things.
I have blue eyes, waist length blonde hair that’s more grey than blonde, and my body’s starting to give me fits over all the stunts I pulled when I was much younger and more flexible.
I’ve been a secretary, bookkeeper, over the road trucker driver with my husband, who taught me to handle the big rigs, a computer operator and database manager. I started working on computers when everything was done at the DOS prompt and electronic bulletin boards were the chattrooms. At present I’m a delivery driver for the laundry department of a local company that manages 400 vacation rental houses on Deep Creek Lake.
In addition, I co-host an internet radio show called Egun And Then Some… with hubby, Oro Shango. Wish the talking paid better than the driving…but we’re working on that.
Don’t have a lot of time for watching TV or movies (why I looove my DVR), but love shows with a twist or something unique. Have a strong dislike for sitcoms (still scratching head over why) and reality shows, unless they show real people doing their real jobs a la Ice Road Truckers.
My friends on the Internet know me better than my RL friends. I’m endlessly fascinated by how things are different yet the same, and visiting conventions and concerts through the eyes of my friends. Y’all have brought my inner fangirl out of the closet and into the light of day. My sense of humor is dry, my anger cutting and snarky.
We follow the Ifa/Lukumi faith and strive to live with good character (Iwa pele) and balance. I started reading Tarot 30 years ago, but today I use them as affirmation or prompt to what I ‘see’.
I’ve written stories in my head since forever (I spent a lot of time with adults when I was young), but only started putting them on paper 2 years ago, and am still in awe that people like what I write.
Now back to your regular programming.

Hearing a commotion in the hallway of his floor above McRory’s, Eliot froze. He dimmed all the lights except the one over the door. Getting into position he waited as the tumbler in the lock click over.
Quick as a viper, he had the intruder in a sleeper hold before he was through the door. He quickly let go when a scent as familiar his own invaded his nose where it was buried in soft, brown curls.
“Lindsey?” He let go and stepped back.
The lawyer stood rubbing his neck.
“Nothing says love like a sleeper hold.” He snarked.
“How the hell was I supposed to know? Hardison tells me they have this great new technology called a phone. Why didn’t you call?”
“Wanted to surprise you?” Lindsey actually looked sheepish
“Never a good idea, darlin’. Now come here.”
He grabbed the younger man and pulled him into a breath stealing kiss that left Lindsey weak kneed and panting. When they came up for air, Eliot eyed the suitcase sitting in the hall.
“Lindsey…?”
“I’m tired of sleeping alone…being alone.”
“But…”
“No. Eliot. Just. No.” He raised his head, chin stubborn. “I refuse to waste Sam and Dean’s sacrifice hiding in another city because you’re afraid your past will rear its ugly head. We’ve both seen ugly and your enemies aren’t it.” Hands on hips he was nose to nose with the retrieval specialist. “In case you’ve forgotten I have a few skills of my own. I.AM.STAYING. Now, where’s the bedroom. The rest of my stuff’s down in the truck.”
Eliot surrendered.

Date: 2010-09-17 10:57 am (UTC)btw, do you remember that you got a comment on a Linds/Eliot story from a girl who thought the pairing was weird but read it nonetheless and liked it? She's now digging through Face Value and has friended me. *beams* I think that's awesome!

Date: 2010-09-17 11:11 am (UTC)But seriously, I am trying to expand out into other fandoms I like so I don't get tunnel vision for one. There used to be all kinds of things I never thought I'd read or write, but with the help of all my fave enablers I've overcome those stumbling blocks to where I'm down to just one or two squicks.
*Headdesk* Not sure whether to hug & kiss y'all for expanding my thinking or kick your butts for throwing me out of my comfort zone. *scratches head--bewildered*
